It's Too Late

Later

My husband and I. (March, 2020.)

Somehow humans are naturally cautious

In which direction we steer,

because one quick and brutal turn can

change that special feature in the mirror.

We're told our whole lives to go after our dreams,

but that's hard for those of us

who can't decipher what that means.

We still work and we still try,

because we know there's more for us to just work and then die.

We work and we work and then say that we're tired.

We're not tired,

we're uninspired.

We live as if we've given up

everything we desired.

Pushing away all the things

that build the fire.

To find the difference in math

is to subtract.

Maybe a hint to humans

for how we should act.

Put difference in the years

and add more to our dreams.

We're in a hurry because the world

may not go on as long as it seems.

"Later" could turn into,

"Its's too late."

The time may never be just right,

so don't wait.
