It’s Now or Never she Has To Go
It’s now or never

It’s Now or Never she Has To Go
She didn’t whisper
she didn’t weep
she walked out fast
while they were asleep
Four little ones
still warm in bed
she kissed no cheeks
she turned no head
No suitcase packed
just grabbed her coat
left toast half-burnt
left him a note
Not one of guilt
not one of grace
just don’t come looking
signed with her name
He worked hard
he loved her well
but she was done
she wouldn’t dwell
He begged once
she didn’t blink
said, it’s now or never
and didn’t think
Some man in a van
with a loud tattoo
took the wheel
and off they flew
She didn’t glance
at the garden toys
she didn’t care
about broken boys
He washed their clothes
he did their hair
he told them Mum’s not here
not Mum don’t care
But she did
in her own cold way
she cared enough
to never stay
