Island Trip. A Sonnet.

A poem and tribute to a quiet little British Island.

An island trip, young love, all cute and new.

We arrived at night. Soft lights, a seaside town.

Salty tang of beachside, gentle hue.

Whispering laps of waves on sand, the sound

Of murmuring voices, hand in hand we strolled,

To our hotel, a funny little spot

With avocado bath-suite, oh so old!

But friendly all the same, yet from 'year dot'.

Sunny days and eating 'chip baguettes',

Castle tours, a tram ride through the trees.

Evening meals and cocktails, curry sweats,

From a madras, oh dear, more water please!

Memories, a stress free gentle pace,

A moment stood aside from the rat race!

About the Creator

Deborah Robinson

I'm new to the 'writing for real' scene. Previously, I've kept my poetry and writing under wraps in a fancy notebook, but now I've decided to give it a proper go!

I hope you enjoy my work.

Thanks, Deborah.
