Is There Anything Worse Than Death?
A Sonnet for Each Life

Remaining the sole witness of my life
when the only other one was my wife
taken eagerly to the other side
since existence is but a dying bride
I would have preferred to see her alive
in the arms and bed of another man
than departed to the void to contrive
the rest of my miserable ground plan
But there is always love between the cracks
you just need thin fingers a bit of heart
to take out that so-called pomp with an ax
making sure the tool you use has some art
Pray tell is there anything worse than death
Surely you grasp it to be the first breath

I'd rather see my husband dead than in the arms or bed of another woman, lol. Loved your poem!
