flowers from the heart

some days i feel invisible

a small flower, among many

tossed by the wind

and lost in a bouquet

the need to be seen, visceral

like an old, forgotten penny

a wayward friend

you found along the way

some days i search a stranger's face

hoping to be remembered

holding nothing but a thought

of how belonging used to feel

the subtle hints of yesterday

my dues already tendered

though tears, in my throat, are caught

still the need to feel them, is real
