I’m only just now learning, there are holes I’ll never fill

that my practice at discerning, lacks a specific kind of skill.

And somewhere in the shadows, hiding the secrets of my past

a little girl, with dreams of gold, recounting prayers on my behalf

Safely guarding any memory, that would stir the grand illusion

keeping hurtful words and actions sealed, that might cause my soul confusion

That as a child, exposed to illness, my mother's sins became my own

a tender babe, bearing witness to, a monsters touch, colder than stone

Time is the healer of the wounds, that's true, but the memory wears the scar

of the secrets no one listens to and the wounds that shape the heart
