In the year of '24, where freedom's light should gleam,

The echoes of the past haunt the black elder's dream.

For once they toiled, beneath the sun's harsh glare,

Bound by chains of oppression, in a land unfair.

Their backs bore the weight of a nation's sin,

As they worked the fields, their spirits worn thin.

From dawn till dusk, with weary limbs and soul,

They labored on, with a dream of a better goal.

But in '24, their voices rise,

No longer silenced, no longer disguised.

They stand tall, with strength renewed,

Their resilience and courage, forever imbued.

For though the scars of slavery run deep,

They rise above, from their slumbered sleep.

Their wisdom and resilience, a beacon bright,

Guiding generations, toward freedom's light.

In '24, let us honor their legacy,

And remember their struggles, with empathy.

For in their journey, we find the strength to stand, where injustice reigns hand in hand.
