Inevitability

Nothing lasts forever

By Cella PoynterPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

How do you kill a god? Is it even possible to tear down so high a throne with naught but mortal hands?

Oh Death, though ever-approaching, ever-patient, fearsome inevitability; tell me, can gods die, even after the manner of ment?

Do we all, even those who sit above the worlds, eventually fall to enter your halls, finding eternal rest?

If I am inevitable, as you say, should I not visit even the gods themselves? If this be true, one need only learn in what manner they may die.

The gods call themselves immortal, and compared to others that is true enough. Yet they are not truly immortal, living so long as another does not kill them.

If you seek to kill a god, use no blade of mortal making; weapons made by the gods themselves will not be turned aside by even the greatest.

Failing that, there are other means, though they are only for the patient, requiring many lifetimes for the work to be complete.

To kill a god, destroy belief in their power. Plant doubt among mortals, and let it grow, until generations later their name means no more than that of any man.

When belief in them fades, when their names are only words, then they become mortal, aging and dying and fading from memory.
