In the morning hours,

or in the afternoon, or

any time of day,

rigid rolling rocks

stand like silent sentinels

encircling the town.

Boldly imbued with

streaking jagged lines etched by

dusty oxygen

sculpted over time.

By smearing red with brown and

bloody orange crumbs,

sedimentary

stones encapsulate the sun's

settings in the sky.

Beaming beauty blooms

purple, orange, red, and brown

under a blue sky.

In the arid south

the sun is always setting

all throughout the day.
