In the Shadows of almost

"Only waiting"

There is something stirring beneath my skin,

a quiet disturbance in the marrow of thought,

a feeling that does not arrive with a name

but with weight,

dense, unrelenting,

like a storm gathering where no sky exists.

I reach for it,

try to hold it to the light,

but it recoils from definition,

slips through the fragile architecture of language

as though it was never meant

to be understood,

only endured.

What are you?

Are you love,

that slow-burning gravity

that bends the soul inward

until it no longer belongs to itself?

Or are you something more dangerous,

a hunger dressed in softness,

a fleeting fire

that devours meaning

and leaves nothing but ash behind?

I stand suspended,

not grounded in certainty,

not lost enough to let go.

Between not yet

and almost.

A place without mercy.

Here, time feels distorted,

each second stretching thin

over the sharp edge of hesitation.

Here, thoughts echo louder than truth,

and truth itself hides

in the hollow spaces between heartbeats.

This feeling,

it is not gentle.

It does not arrive like a whisper

or settle like a calm tide.

It presses inward,

deep, invasive,

as though it is searching for something in me

I have spent years trying to bury.

It grows in silence,

in stolen glances that linger too long,

in the quiet pull of something unseen

drawing me closer

to a place I cannot return from unchanged.

And I fear it.

Not because it is unknown,

but because it feels too real

to be dismissed as passing.

If it were lust,

it would burn and be gone,

a brief inferno

consumed by its own urgency.

If it were love,

it would settle with a name,

take form,

offer some kind of clarity

in its depth.

But this,

this is something in between,

a dark and restless in-between

that refuses to choose its shape.

It lingers in the veins,

whispers in the blood,

turns every thought into a question

that cannot be answered

without unraveling something deeper.

I try to step back,

to distance myself from its pull,

but it follows,

quiet, patient,

like a shadow that knows

it does not need to chase

what already belongs to it.

And perhaps that is the truth

I am too afraid to face.

That this feeling,

unnamed, undefined,

has already rooted itself

in places I cannot reach.

It is too deep to be taken lightly.

Too heavy to ignore.

Too consuming

to pretend it is nothing.

So I remain here,

in this dim, uncertain space

where desire and devotion blur,

where instinct and meaning collide,

where I am neither lost

nor found.

Only waiting.

Waiting for this darkness

to either become light

or swallow me whole.

Waiting for the moment

when almost

either breaks into something real,

or collapses

into nothing at all.
