I told a single lie

that spring, when we met

watching the cherry blossoms

dance so gently with the wind

...

Listening to you play the piano

violent and frustrated fingers

clumsily fumble over each key

draining you of any color

...

Where did the boy go

who created a palette of colors

and painted whole landscapes

with a single key stroke

...

Drowning at the bottom of the sea

choking on his mother's expectations

living in deep, dark, solitude

where his beautiful sound cannot reach

...

I'm sorry for being selfish

and seeing your pain and forcing

you to play your wavering heart

on stage where others could judge

...

You see, I don't have much time left

...

So I told a single lie

to stand by your side on stage

and to hear you play with color

and to live on in your heart
