I stand in a queue and make nice

Because that's what I am told to do.

But my patience is starting to wear thin

While I wait for the green light's permission to start again.

+ + +

After months spent

Derelict and grief-stricken,

I was alone with myself, wishing to be with anyone else,

Before accepting myself as a roommate.

+ + +

Hoping for just a short stint,

I tried my best to not be short on rent,

But in this place of uncharted roads,

I still feel like a ghost,

Waiting in line for a host's permission to haunt again.
