immortality

another tragedy

By Poppy Published 2 years ago • Updated 3 months ago • 1 min read

You can write a poem

To him each night

Formulate a daydream

For him each window you gaze out

❀

You can immortalise him

In a painting of words and

A chorus of laments

❀

You can gaze at him

Like a constellation of stars

Mark out his flaws

Like charting a map

❀

You can, of course, love him

But that doesn’t mean you can have him

❀

(When have you ever held the things you love?)
