Imagination's Train

My Life's Journey

By Dan R FowlerPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Imagination’s Train

Sometimes I sit a bit too worn to go on,

On the banks of anticipation awaiting dawn.

But should I not venture into this realm,

I wouldn’t see or know who’s at the helm.

I stare to recognize them as we journey ahead,

On uncharted courses, imaginary frivolity it’s said.

But I’m not so sure that’s it’s what I dreamed,

A gift it’s been said, an event so deemed.

But for me, it’s just a passing from here to there,

Where words stir the heart of someone who cares.

For life is but a vapor a wall that divides,

Me from them who know the truth where they abide.

I wait to be nudged or a whispered word spoken,

By the crowd that’s before me, is this an omen?

Who’s to say or guess what it might be,

In the predawn’s light, I can barely see.

Then when I’m at my most vulnerable it seems,

My guide touches me awakening me from the dream.

It’s only a dream some conjuring in my mind,

But as time passes I’ll be able to leave it behind.

My guide turned and smiled and bid me adieu,

Until the next night’s meeting will surely ensue.

I can’t stop this journey I find myself on,

Dreams and words have forever belonged.

It’s simply my mind attempting to understand,

All that I see and experience upon this land.

So for now, without regret, I’ll simply wave a hello,

To a conductor and passengers on this train here below.
