I'm Still Here. Surviving from your Words of Pain.

Words Like Poison

By Alisha Wilkins ✒️🦋🖋️Published 4 months ago • 1 min read

This is where the pain ends

Every “worthless,”

Every “you’re not good enough,”

Held me in a cycle of chaos

Held my heart in a cage

While I surrendered to your control

Every word you said

Left me feeling practically dead

You took my peace

I continued to fight your control

Determined that I’d never fall for the manipulation again

I’m sick of this

So tired of the pain

Creeping in

Underneath my skin,

Cutting off my air

Making my heart stutter with aching pains

Your words spelled out love songs, beautiful doubts, and romantic connections

But you lied

You keep dressing up the wolf in sheep’s skin

Get out of my head!

Worthless!

Piece of Shit!

Never enough!

You left me feeling dead inside

Despite how my heart screamed about how much I loved you

I love you,

But you continued to break me down with false love and false hopes.

All your words were lies filled with so much dread

I’m dying inside

Just wishing for you to love me

You became pain, hurt, and heartache disguised as my friend

You don’t decide if I live or die

You don’t decide if I’m going to fight back

I’m not living with your words,

Chains against my skin.

I’ll chisel every single one away until I’ve rebuilt my life again
