If the Truth was in Abundance
A poem on the abundance of the truth
If the truth was in abundance
Would our world stand a chance?
To give love without pain
To everyone again and again
Would kindness spread like a virus?
Reaching and touching all of us
Not leaving out anyone
No matter where they belong
Would peace allow to linger?
Keeping all of us out of danger
Allowing us to live together
No matter where we gather
Would freedom be given to all?
Whether you are big or small
Rich or poor, black or white
Would we still have to fight?
Would anyone die of hunger?
As our world population grows bigger and bigger
Separating us by race, religion, or creed
No matter our need
Would poverty still exist?
In areas that it persists
Eight hundred and fifteen million under nourish
Will the truth deter this?
Would we eliminate hate?
For everyone coming through the gate
From North, South, East, or West
Would the truth protest?
If the truth was in abundance
Many people would be redundant
Some wouldn’t be in attendance
Losing their independence
Because the truth might set you free
But could imprison me
The truth depends on which side you are on and how you benefit from it. Does humanity want the truth in abundance? The Truth is a beautiful thing, whether it’s in abundance or not.
