I Will Keep You as Long as You Go

Please don’t do that though.

You have four wheels and like to go.

The price to feed you is not so low.

Buying fuel is so outrageous.

I might have to trade you in for a horse and buggy and call myself Mavis.

I still love you so,

Even though that one time you needed a tow.

You remember, don’t you?

Oh, come on, I know you do.

I was stranded at the soccer field,

A damsel in distress, waiting for someone to yield.

The mechanic got you all fixed, and off we went.

On the road again, but, oh no, what is that scent?

The kids must be the culprit of the smell.

I can’t find the source to bid it farewell.

It’s still lingering on, nice and strong,

But you got your revenge, and, yes, it was sweet.

Instead of cool air blowing in my face, I get a blast of hell heat.

I still love you so,

But there are some things I need you to know.

I’m sorry I park you under that tree, and you get covered in bees.

That sap falls all over you, leaving a real nasty residue.

It’s sticky and gross, and all the bugs love it the most.

I’m sure you laugh as I slam your door shut, but honestly, I hope the bees don’t feel my mistrust.

I’ve tried to keep you clean, and for one whole day, you sure do gleam.

You only have to hold on for a little longer because fall will soon conquer.

I will love you even more because I won’t need that ice-cold air.

We can roll the windows down without one single care.

We’ll get to park under a tree that will be sap free.

That cool brisk breeze with chase away the bees.

Oh, my dear sweet car, I need you to know.

I still love you so, and I will keep you as long as you go.
