Do you ever get a feeling

That everything is a wee bit fucked?

A tingling of the neck

A look over the back

Unceasing inklings of decline

The truth is

I wasn’t going to write a poem today

I find little comfort

In verse and rhyme

Instead

I avert the bad place

That dark corner of my mind

In chapter

In prose

In heroes of old

But within comfort

It's tough to find growth

It’s easy to hide away

And say “nay begone today!”

But

All good things I surround myself with

My wife

My pups

My home

One, all

Come from previous moments

Of aggressive insanity

Yays instead of nays

So I guess I’ll write

A poem today
