I've Got Beef With a Groundhog
A poem responding to Mikeydred's February prompt

Six more weeks of Winter
Where is that little twit?
Yeah, he was just doing his job
But, I think he should quit
Groundhog, oh, groundhog
where did you go?
I am trudging and tromping
Through six inches of snow
Bats in my belfry
Hmmm...
I just want relief
So, this half-batty chic
Is declaring a beef
Beef with the groundhog
And his shadow-based news
Beat feet, little fellow
Mama's got on her running shoes
To catch you and scold you
My number one task
To make you retract
Your dumb little notion-
An extended Winter forecast
I'm shivering, I'm cold
Tired of New York's wonky weather
I am a reasonable gal
We can work this out together
Hide, if you will
Laugh at my grief
But I'm coming for you, groundhog
With you, I've got beef

My poem is an entry in Mikeydred's February prompt found here👇
The groundhog saw his shadow this year, indicating six more weeks of Winter. While my silly little poem is all just in the name of fun, Spring doesn't officially begin until Thursday, March 20. So, I suppose it's not rocket science to expect more wintry weather.
Thanks, Mikeydred for hosting your prompts, and thanks to all who read!
