I Sold My Children
The police found out and put them into care

I Sold My Children
I sold my children to better their life,
In a world of hunger, despair, and strife.
Each tear I shed, a piece of my soul,
But I clung to hope to make them whole.
Their cries still haunt my restless nights,
A mother’s love turned into rights.
The law came down, the world grew cold,
For fifteen years, my story was told.
Behind the bars, they called me cruel,
A mother who broke the sacred rule.
But they didn’t see, they didn’t know,
The depths to which I had to go.
Now free, I seek the ones I lost,
To find their love, to weigh the cost.
But in their eyes, will love remain,
Or will I bear this endless pain?
Each moment lingers, etched in my mind,
I gave them up, believing love was blind.
I thought of their futures, the lives they could lead,
If only I knew how deep was the need.
I reach for their faces, for smiles so bright,
In the depths of my heart, I long for the light.
What stories unfold when we finally embrace?
Can love bridge the distance, reclaim our place?
How does a heart heal from horrors unbound?
Can silence embrace what the past has unwound?
I whisper their names to the moon's gentle glow,
Hoping they sense all the love I bestow.
With each step I take through the remnants of loss,
I cling to the memories, no matter the cost.
For love knows no bounds, nor chains can confine,
A mother’s devotion, forever divine.
So I wander in search of their warmth and their grace,
Longing to revel in their soft, sweet embrace.
For in this wide world, where dreams still may bloom,
A bond forged in love is my light in the gloom.
