Tell them everything,

the broken, the beautiful, the real

let them in through the chasm of your soul

picking and prodding through the years you can't bare

unpacking that box you left in the attic hoping you'd do it someday.

Let their eyes shift in surprise, twitch in their leg from the urge to run

take that breath and see the tears in their eyes as they smile.

The rise and fall of their breath quickening until they release,

"How can you handle all of that?"

You went to them for answers;

they left you to find it from someone else.
