- Blood...

That's all I see

When I close my eyes.

- I envision

My hands covered in blood,

Pouring from the lacerations

That I put there

When I lost my shit

And punched the dash repeatedly

In my car.

- I imagine

My arms criss-crossed with slashes

From the scissors on my desk

That I used to bleed the pain out

Of my mind

When I just couldn't take

Anymore.

- I see

My legs imprinted with long scratches

From the nails that I grew out

Specifically to claw the flesh

From my hideous body.

- I open my eyes.

- I observe

My hair billowing from my face

In beautiful strands

As my body free-falls

From the building I threw myself from.

- I am finally free.

- The sky

Of this wretched world

Is the last thing

I see.

About the Creator

Lizzy Pacem

I have experienced many things over my long life, and all of these things influence my writing. I have been an advocate for the arts since the beginning of the concept of art, and I hope to inspire others to embrace their inner creators.
