I saw you shine

before I knew that it was you

I had been blinded by.

What flashed before my eyes

Hurt me, so I turned away.

In my shame, denial, and pain.

I admitted what I thought of you

Before I could realize

what I knew of you.

You showed me to myself in ways

I could not yet seem to heed

A me to be rebirthed in self

A revelation of what I need.

And I am left to wonder

Was it love that struck me blind,

Or was I blinded by my lack of love

For who I am inside.

I will never be the same now that

My eyes perceived your light.

For I had yet to find a love

For which to stand and fight.

My heart is yours forevermore

And yet I stay in wonder,

Is your heart for the taking

And might I be your answer.
