I saw you peeking in on me
when I was maybe, two or three
Such a sight were you to see
we were like two pods in a pea
~~~~
It seemed a night or two a week
that you would spin and gaze at me
We sang lullabies' and learned the ABC's
and at bedtime played some hide and seek
~~~~
But I'm older now and it's been awhile
since I've seen your face and smile
The world seems like it's going wild
kindness has fallen out of style
~~~~
I wish you would come back and stay
I'm afraid that we've gone quite insane
Everybody's playing games
that no one's winning anyway
~~~~
It seems we only fight neath you
the lovers now, refuse to swoon
The poets words are full of doom
and they blame all of that on you too
~~~~
But, I'm sure if they saw you like I did
when I was just a little kid
And if you'd wink and flash that grin
maybe we would be sane again
~~~~
Even if it was a silly dream
just tales of a child's imagining
Or some magically, fantastic scheme
won't you please bring them back for me?
