I Raised You

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 11 months ago • 1 min read

Verse 1

I held you close, I raised you right,

Through sleepless nights and morning light.

With love and care, I showed the way,

To help you grow, to help you stay.

Chorus

But now it’s time to stand up tall,

You’ve learned your lessons, now heed the call.

Your choices are your own to take,

Don’t look to me for each mistake.

You were loved and you were free,

So own your path, let yourself be.

Verse 2

When storms arise, I’ll be your guide,

But don’t forget, I’m not your stride.

The world is vast; it’s yours to roam,

Decide your path, find your own home.

Chorus

But now it’s time to stand up tall,

You’ve learned your lessons, now heed the call.

Your choices are your own to take,

Don’t look to me for each mistake.

You were loved and you were free,

So own your path, let yourself be.

Bridge

With every heartache, with every scar,

You’ll learn and grow, you’ll shine like a star.

I gave you roots, and wings to fly,

It’s your turn now, spread wide and high.

Chorus

So now it’s time to stand up tall,

You’ve learned your lessons, now heed the call.

Your choices are your own to take,

Don’t look to me for each mistake.

You were loved and you were free,

So own your path, let yourself be.

Outro

In every moment, take a breath,

Life is yours, with no regrets.

I’ll always love you, that won’t change,

But now it’s you—time to rearrange.
