I preached to a fool...

"I see you walking in my old shoes..."

I preached to a fool, trying to plant wisdom

He took the seeds and told me to cook

I started stirring up the pot,

he took it all with a grain of salt

Now I’m doing my best to light up the mood

See, I’m picking at his thoughts,

telling him there’s always room to improve.

I say, “I understand you’re hurt and you find it hard to see that.’

You yell at me like how can you understand, your life’s great you haven’t seen the places that I’ve been at

You right, perhaps I don’t get it. And perhaps I never will.

All I know is that when you been through hell in this life sometimes we struggle to get well

See I know it ain’t easy

I got a few scars myself

I’ve Been burnt a few times....

& for the longest I walked through this life like I was

walking on egg shells.

Always careful about my next move,

baby step all through the way.

Fear left me trapped in my mind

to all the good things In life I went blind

leaving no room for this pretty flower to bloom.

and now every time I look at you

I see you walking in my old shoes.
