Before I knew life was a bitch

I painted me when life was young

I painted me when I was younger,

Waiting for my life to change.

It didn’t change, it went much worse.

I think I have a family curse.

I looked for love, I only found fake,

I learned most men just hurt and take.

I realised life was one big con,

Somehow though, I did carry on.

My heart got broken so many times,

I couldn’t see, love made me blind.

Tears and hurt, still I tried and tried,

Still true love didn’t come, It was unkind.

Then out of the blue I met you, my love,

I instantly fell so deep in for you.

Years later you hurt me, yes you,

I knew no one could ever love me.

Now I am older, filled with bitterness,

I can’t go out or even get dressed.

Don’t want to be hurt, not no more,

To love I closed and bolted my door.

I painted a portrait of myself so young,

Before I knew what lies lovers song sang.

Bitter and old, yes that is me,

I never found love, hurt followed me.
