My hands are on yours
Feeling the warmth
Holding onto you
As if I had nothing to lose
My head on your chest
Listening to your heart beating
And at that moment
My eyes open
The blank white ceiling
Staring back at me
Making me wonder if
Somehow all of this
Was a dream
I long to tell this to you
My mouth wants to speak those words
But as if it has a mind of its own
It holds back the words and never said them
But now, I’ll finally say them
“I miss you,” I wanted to say
But you fade away like the night sky
Drifting far from where I am
My heart aches for you every day
It longs for your warm touch again
If only I had said those words before
Maybe then, and maybe now
You’d still be here
With me.
