I'm Not Right

But I'll Be Alright

Everyone is different.

We are programmed to believe

That white,

Able-bodied,

Neuro-typical

Is "right."

Those who are different

Forced to assimilate

As best they can

To what is "right."

I am privileged.

White.

Able-bodied.

Seeing the differences

Wasn't easy.

But I'm not "right"

In all areas.

OCD,

Panic

And probably ADHD.

I do things

Differently

Than what is "right."

I write lists,

I count,

*Inhale*

*Exhale*

And meditate when I can.

It looks different

Than what is "right."

But I get through life

Just the same.

I do believe it's hard.

But I'm tough

And strong

And more determined.

I'm not right,

But I willl be alright.
