i love the way you say my name

when you say goodbye in the mornings

but i hate the way it sounds when

it's mentioned as a warning.

i love when you bring me flowers

without even having to ask,

but i hate the way that they rot away

when you take off your mask.

and i love the sound of your car on the gravel

when you come home in the evenings,

but i hate the way it sounds

when you leave me for no reason.

i love you more than i love myself

and that's a burden to bare,

but even though it hurts sometimes,

i know you'll always be there.

I think about writing more than I write, but call myself a writer as opposed to a thinker.
