Our planet is on fire
The need for change is dire
Why is there such resistance
All we want is some assistance
Because this dilemma at hand
Affects every tribe and land
Instead we are divided
When we should be united
We’re so desensitized
And won't prioritize
The human race above money
Or the oil powers that be
"We must stop the 'enemy'
Protect the 'economy'"
Why is it polarizing
It’s all so agonizing
What if we went back to roots
Put on our hiking boots
Admired the scenery
Treasured the greenery
Listened to the streams
Surveyed the sunbeams
Then we might come to see
That just quite possibly
Not all is doom and gloom
As long as we make room
For consideration
Of our habitation
We all live on this Earth
Let us cherish its worth
Its resources are finite
So our methods are not quite
The best they used to be
Let go of vanity
Put differences aside
Look nature in the eye
And ask what can we change
Although it might be strange
To step out of our comfort zone
Remember we are not alone
Koalas and rhinos and panda bears
Fish and birds and mountain hares
On their behalf I ask you why
You won’t at least give it a try
The future generation’s
Dealing with frustrations
Toward passivity
And inactivity
Among our top officials
As if it’s superficial
But the damage is extensive
Repairs will take collective
Responsibility
It’s up to you and me
So ride a bike
Take a hike
Save your gas
Do not pass
The opportunity
For our posterity
To have a clean new world.
