I Died Last Night

Not all deaths are of the body—some happen quietly inside the soul.

By Emma Published about a year ago • 1 min read

I died last night…

Not in the way the body dies,

But in the quiet ache of a silent heart,

Where love turned into ashes,

And hope dissolved into the dark.

I died last night…

When your voice became a stranger’s echo,

When the warmth of your hands

Felt colder than winter’s breath.

I saw my soul leave quietly,

Like a candle’s final flicker.

I died last night…

In the silence that screamed louder than words,

In the emptiness that swallowed every dream.

I lay awake, staring at the ceiling,

Feeling the weight of a thousand unspoken goodbyes.

I died last night…

Because you were alive in someone else’s smile,

Because your heart no longer beat for mine.

And so, I buried my feelings in the grave of forgotten love,

While the world kept spinning,

Unaware of the funeral inside my chest.

But maybe in this death,

There is a strange kind of rebirth.

A freedom from the chains of longing,

A release from the pain of wanting what was never meant to stay.

Yes…

I died last night.

But today,

I learn how to live again.
