It is not the absence of feeling.

It’s not being the wait, instead of the action.

It is not playing the cards, and sidestepping silly love songs.

It is not withdrawing.

It is not long silences.

It is not “not now.”

It is not at the drop of a hat.

It is not sparse.

It is not a disappearing act at will.

It is not heavy on one end, it is not light on the other.

It is not what is easy.

It is not existing for the light, but never for the dark.

It is not hothouse fullness surrounded in shade, and wilted bloom in the face of the luminous sun.

It is not the high and the low in vicious repetition, but never standing on even ground.

It is not pleading, piteous, and ending up with nothing.

It is not the excuse. The excuse is not the reason.

It is not words unspoken, not promises broken.

It is not perpetually something else, to simply not be this.

It is not an ideal, a convenient concoction.

It is not “with.” It seems to be “without.”

It is not you, still never me.

It is not a little too late.

It is not enough.

It is not I love you.

Phynne~Belle (Tricia De Jesus-Gutierrez) is so not “that poet” writing sappy love verse in the SF Bay Area. You can find out more about her right here.
