I Can Give You Fireflies

Day 58/365

By Ellie HoovsPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

I don't have much to offer

I'm just a penniless writer

barely making enough to get by

But what I can give to you,

I give freely and heartfelt,

if you care to stay here awhile

-

I'll wrap up the parts of me

with shiny red ribbons

and give you a gift card to my dreams

I'll show you a world more beautiful

than you've ever seen.

-

I can share with you the glittering gold

from the sunlight

when it beams through my morning window

and I can write you the song

that the fireflies blink

when the sun begins to set in the meadow

-

If you want a love

that can surpass every age

and romance that will never die

look no further than the words on this page

where I give you all of the fireflies.
