Don’t you ever forget that

I Am Your Past, Present and Your Future

I was there before you noticed,

hidden inside moments gone unseen,

the quiet part of your history

you never named for what it meant.

I carried pieces of your old days,

held conversations no one heard,

kept fragments of your softer side

inside memories without words.

Then life placed us in one season,

where distance finally lost its place,

and suddenly the passing years

had somewhere familiar to rest.

Now I stand inside your present,

not asking for borrowed space,

only wanting what is honest

and written clearly on your face.

I know the shadows that shaped you,

the disappointments left behind,

the promises that lost direction,

the parts of you that stayed confined.

Still I do not want old stories,

I do not need yesterday to stay,

because love cannot keep living

if it only looks one way.

I want mornings that keep coming,

ordinary days that still feel new,

a life that keeps unfolding

with small truths we carry through.

So if you ask me where I belong,

I will answer simple and clear—

I was your past before you knew me,

I am your present,

and I hope to be your future.
