I am to love and never sleep

in constant light

By A. S. LawrencePublished 12 months ago • 1 min read

With you I made my peace with ups and downs,

A fall together beating solo rise.

The filth and frolic of decaying towns

Deserving equal place in our gray eyes.

While golden arches fought with grand steeple,

I stopped to savor ev'ry cry and dance,

Hearing talk and music from the people,

Sounding alternately like gods and ants.

But once you're gone, my eyes discriminate

And filter out disease, and greed and spite,

Declining to accept a lesser fate

Than living total love in constant light.

A busy man, my mourning doesn't keep,

So pleased I am to love and never sleep.
