A Poem About the Ravages of Hunger

Hunger gnaws at the soul,

A ravenous beast that takes its toll.

It twists and turns with hungry claws,

Demanding to be fed without a pause.

It starts as a whisper, a quiet plea,

But soon it grows, a raging sea.

The stomach grumbles, the throat is dry,

As hunger takes hold, it's hard to deny.

The scent of food is in the air,

But for some, it's a luxury they cannot bear.

Their bellies ache, their heads hang low,

As they struggle to find a place to go.

Hunger is a thief, it steals your strength,

And leaves you feeling small at any length.

It's a burden that many have to bear,

And for some, it's a constant nightmare.

So if you see someone in need,

Don't turn a blind eye or plant a seed.

Extend a hand, show some care,

And help them fight the hunger that's always there.
