I asked you for a sign
to know you're watching over me.
And I watched day after day,
humming bird after humming bird,
as you tried to reach me
on the other side of my window.
---
Somewhere inside I could feel your presence
on the other side of the glass.
Flapping your wings furiously,
inhabiting the body of some creature
just to reach out to me.

Exercising at home isn't particularly memorable.
Until I passed my desk, behind my chair,
and smelled faintly, out of the blue - cologne
that was somehow familial.
---
I failed to associate this familiar scent.
Until a half a second later,
when the outline of your smile
and the booming of your voice
reminded me that my brother
is still around.
