How Often Does One Love?

A Poem

Tell me how often

Does one love when one loves?

How far, how deep and how long?

Could there ever be a song

That can ever contain the depths

Of a heart that yearns

To belong?

Tell me

Is there ever a day

When one forgets?

Is there ever a moment

When love remembers not?

Will it ever say

"For just one second,

I forgot"?

For what kind of love is that

If it fades away so fast

And cannot last?

For love if it be true

Lives on.

Day after day it strives,

It tries, it breathes.

And though it sleeps

It fills its deepest dreams

With lips that speak of bliss.

And in the midst

Of all its waiting,

It does not flinch.

Love carries on.

And in every season

It walks with faith

And it waits

For one's beloved

Through night and day.

Love remembers,

And love stays true,

Every minute

And every second,

It remains.

Not just for certain days

But from this day forth

And always.
