How Do You Know?

A poem

Do the butterflies drop?

Does your heart go flat?

Do sweet nothings sour?

Does it fade like a tat?

Can you spot exactly,

Where things unraveled,

Or when you've lost,

All the milestones travelled?

Do you just linger,

Loveless and lost,

Bitter and cold,

As barren frost?

Will they ever know,

You wonder aloud;

Will their ego admit,

Or are they too proud?

It takes two to fall in,

Only one to fall out,

For kisses to stop,

Falling from your mouth.

But you love enough,

To never tell the truth,

So you lie next to them,

Numbed and mute.
