How Do I Explain You?

Music and Lyrics by: Sara Wilson

I used to keep my heart

behind a half-closed door

Quiet rooms and empty spaces

nothing sacred anymore.

❤️

Then you showed up like a blessing

I didn't know to pray for

Didn't knock, didn't ask...

You just stepped onto my floor

❤️

There were silver flecks in blue eyes

little galaxies I'd never seen

You looked at me like I was something

more than all the wars I'd been...

❤️

I was anxious, I was fragile...

Still shaking from the fight

but you held my broken pieces

like they were made of holy light.

❤️

I never let my soul show

Never let the world see through

but something sacred in your presence

made me open up to you

❤️

Cuz you walked in without a warning

Turned my shadows into light

Now my heart stays open for you only

No more armor. No more need to hide...

❤️

And if angels aren't real...

How do I explain you to God?

Tell me what I'm supposed to say

when Heaven asks what miracle I got.

❤️

I never liked affection

where the whole world gets a view

but somehow, I forget the crowd

when I'm standing next to you

❤️

You make the ordinary sacred

make the quiet feel divine

And I'd spend a thousand lifetimes

just to keep your hand in mine.

❤️

People ask me if I'm happy

I just smile cuz it's true

If Heaven ever sent a sign

It must have come in the shape of you

❤️

All the fears I carried with me...

fell silent when you said my name.

You turned my scars into a story

that doesn't end in hurt or shame.

❤️

If forever means you're with me...

then forever doesn't feel the same.

❤️

Cuz you walked in without a warning

Turned my shadows into light

Now my heart stays open for you only

No more armor. No more need to hide.

❤️

And if angels aren't real...

How do I explain you to God?

You're the kind of love that Heaven

would take credit...

for on the spot.

❤️

I could write a thousand poems

Fill the sky with every truth

but nothing I could ever write

would be half as good as you.

❤️
