In the depths of summer's heat,
I lay in bed and try to sleep,
But the air is thick, the night so still,
And my body starts to feel the heat's chill.
My skin is damp, my breath is hot,
As I toss and turn, trying to find a spot,
That's cool and comfortable, where I can rest,
And escape the sweltering heat's unwelcome guest.
But still, I cannot escape the heat's embrace,
As I drift off to sleep in this hot, sticky place,
Dreaming of cool breezes and winter snow,
Wishing that this hot sleep would just go.
