Hot Chocolate Dreamer
Ode or poem? for this -5 degree winter's night
His luscious soul felt like silky sips
of creamy hot spiced chocolate
tasting of sweet Thai chili and bitter nibs
Chosen from so many he melted into me
offering dreams of rich chocolate-filled days
over sweet hot nights lasting until dawn
arise my sweet and taste of this
everlasting love he promised
Does he remember hot chocolate
even the best of it
will always cool down leaving sips
of cold mocha and sickening sweetness
evoking a bitterness of origins
reheating isn’t quite the same
