Hopeful Machines

munitions de la nature

each bursting flower yet a reticent cog

each a hopeful machine

water flushing out the inner walls

scarlet tissues coursing with precarious life

just erupting in waves across the face of the earth

colors in a callow brushstroke of sunrise

the pods shelled, un-cursed and decimated

ammunition cases abandoned in the gardens

that one harrowing day we spent

wide-eyed blasting back at the darkness

with the same unbound radiance

of yesterday's flawlessness

the transfused vault of a million seeds

the same one which threatens to ensnare

the mourning world

where were you when the walls failed

I couldn't wait
