Where is home?

To all our dearly departed,

Is home truly where the heart is?

We wish you could have stayed,

So home we could have forever played.

If home is with our loves,

Why did you go to heaven above?

And where can home be now,

Since you’ve taken your final bow?

Home was never hard to find,

‘‘Twas never far when you’re in a bind.

The shoulder to cry on and rest your head,

And ward off nightmares when going to bed.

They say home isn’t a building or place,

But someone who makes you feel safe and embraced.

For me that was you, but at what cost?

Now you’re gone I feel only lost.

Humans weren’t made to live in houses of brick,

But live with the land making homes of natural hay, clay or stick.

Making connection with people and the earth,

Not taking for granted each other’s worth.

Home is you, was you and will be forever,

I hope for a heaven so some day we will be together.

For now a lost soul, alone and unknown,

Til we meet again and I’ll be finally home.
