Home[sick]

Home is you.

Me being me,

You laughing.

Old movies playing.

Snow in the air,

Holidays around the corner.

I am safe

I am seen

I am known

I am me.

I am home.

But, I am homesick.

The warmest family dining room table you’ve ever seen,

There seems to be a glow in the air.

Four sisters laughing in the kitchen.

Dad quietly makes a joke

And rolls his eyes in the other room;

He loves “his girls.”

Mom rushes in with final touches,

The meal nearly ready.

It’s perfectly imperfect,

This home filled with love.

We had everything that mattered;

You were there.

You are home.

I’ll always being a little homesick,

Until I see you again.
