Home is Where the Mutt is
Written by: Christen Schiel
Weight on my chest,
Fear has lust,
Trying to be feel best,
Anxiety must,
Happiness was weary,
In February,
Of ’17,
Depression is mean,
Self is lost,
Rootless like moss,
Rest in peace to my loss,
A dog’s soul be tossed,
A girl’s soul obliterated,
Years with no one bordering,
How could this happen,
Years spent in solitary,
Begged year after year,
For a furry friend to hold dear,
Mother wouldn’t bother to heed,
The girl’s need,
Till the middle of January,
Shed light on a dog necessary,
Strong connection between two,
Who would have known,
A mutt of would have sown,
The heart of the girl,
With the broken soul,
The heart to be stole,
Rocky start,
Trial after trial,
Running mile after mile,
All she could do was smile,
Of her best friend,
Who was able to mend,
The girl with the broken heart,
Turned rust into silver,
Silver to gold,
Saved from the cold,
Keeping a hold,
Onto this shattered heart,
Comforting like home,
Hold on to the moment,
When I realized home is where the mutt is
