tried to build a home

out of your broken parts

and cried

when it collapsed

because you weren’t there

to hold me.

i guess people

aren’t refuges

and broken parts

do not hold up

in the wind.

i have never stopped

looking

for where I belong.

amidst the rubble

and flames

i know now

it is not in you.

i will miss

drowning my darkness

in your arms

losing my mind

to your touch

but you cannot

be mine

because nothing

can belong to me

when i am not.

my aching heart

wants a place

to belong.

where is home?

It is not in you. Whew, I felt that in my heart

  • Because nothing can belong to me. That hit me so hard. Such an emotional poem!
