His Time Will Come

Patience will tell

Somewhere in the future he’ll have need of specialised knowledge,

He’ll learn that there are certain lessons that he’ll hold close to his heart,

Chambers deeply hidden within to hold his precious memories,

Lifetime experiences without which he’d fall apart.

**

There’ll come a time when his wisdom will rule his world,

When he’ll fall back on the truth that is only his to bare,

He’ll wear his innocence upon his sleeve for all to see,

And honour the consequences of his decisions, which is only fair.

**

He knows that the sun will once again shine upon his rainy days,

If he can stall until his patience brings acceptance and peace,

His smile will adorn his handsome face on a day to come,

And with it will be the past torment which he’ll choose to release.

**

One month of the year is his to draw from at will,

A time when the universe will honour his glory,

He’ll ride the back of devastation to cross the winning line,

But don’t make the mistake of thinking it’s the end of his story.

**

His tomorrows will be filled with moonshine and lace,

As he meets his match, the one destined to stay by his side,

She’ll walk tall, walk proud, with her head in the clouds,

Especially on the day she walks the aisle as his bride.

**

After the ceremony, she’ll lean in and quietly whisper,

“We are one, bound under the eye of all who can see,

Let no one tear asunder a love of such purity,

But let the world witness the adoration I hold for thee.”

**

And there dawned the smile that was destined to return,

His eyes glowing with happiness, his for the taking,

As he gazes down upon the head of the one he adores,

And ponders the new life the two will be making.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
