Hiding From You

Run that’s all I ever do

Hiding From You

I changed the roads I walked on

Changed every place I knew

Still somehow every shadow

Reminds me too much of you

I hide behind fake smiles

Pretending I moved on

Though every quiet evening

Feels heavier alone

You knew all my weak places

Every fear every scar

Now I keep all emotions

Locked away in jars

Friends say time will heal me

That hearts recover fast

Yet some wounds stay open

Held hostage by the past

I avoid old photographs now

Old songs upon the radio

Because memories arrive quickly

Like rivers after snow

Part of me still searches

For the person you once were

Before love became confusion

Before every line turned blurred

So I keep hiding softly

From all we used to be

Because loving you completely

Destroyed too much of me

Maybe someday I’ll breathe easy

Without fear chasing through

Until that day arrives

I’ll keep hiding from you
